East Lothian schoolgirl stuns her mum by baking toilet roll Mother's Day cake
Holly McNeill, 11, stunned her mother Amanda on Sunday morning by delivering the designer cake as a special treat poking fun at the coronavirus-induced national shortage.
The Pinkie St Peter's Primary pupil had secretly managed to bake the one-off layered sponge and buttercream concoction the night before with a little help from dad Jamie, 47, while Amanda was in the bath at the family's Musselburgh home.

Hide AdHR consultant Amanda, 42, said: "I couldn't believe my eyes when she came through to the bedroom with her special treat. I think it's a great idea and it certainly gave us all a wee smile. I actually missed out on toilet roll on my last Tesco delivery but I found some in my local farm shop so we have four for the moment!"
Holly said: "We've not eaten it yet so I just hope it doesn't taste like it looks."
