Edinburgh firm to make PPE for all UK racecourses re-opening
CHB Medical has created a ‘Back to Racing’ PPE pack
An Edinburgh company has been nominated to supply PPE for all UK racecourses re-opening under new lockdown measures.
CHB Medical, which has offices in Charlotte Square, has worked with the British Horseracing Authority to created a ‘Back to Racing’ PPE pack including face masks, gloves, overalls, hand sanitisers, thermometers, visors and goggles.
Racing will resume at Musselburgh from the end of June. There are five provisional fixtures planned for June-August, with the first scheduled for June 30 and July 1.
Racing re-started behind closed doors in the UK from June 1 in Newcastle.
CHB Medical is part of CHB Global, which imports and exports data centres, servers and storage. The medical arm was launched earlier this year to use the company’s contacts, warehouses and staff to supply PPE.
Felicity Griffiths, Managing Director of CHB Global, said: “To be associated with the BHA is fantastic for us and we’re honoured to be playing our part in helping to get horseracing in Britain back up-and-running.
“We’re providing flexible options for racecourses that may already have a stock of PPE or hand sanitiser, to ensure all tracks across the country are compliant with regulations on racedays.
“But it’s not just racecourses, we will be able to support trainers, owners and yard staff before they even get to the racecourse to ensure they are protected.
“Everyone involved with the sport wants to get back racing, but it’s important that it is done safely and everyone is protected – so that racing doesn’t come to a halt again after the restart.”
