The famous bakery will be reopening it’s doors for Edinburgh and Lothian residents for the first time since lockdown started

Greggs will be reopening the doors of seven of its Edinburgh shops on Thursday and 10 across the Lothians, with 800 of its branches opening across the United Kingdom.

The new look stores will have floor marking, protective clothing for staff and screens at the counters, as well as a reduced menu to ensure social distancing in kitchens and workspaces.

Greggs had been allowed to stay open throughout the lockdown, offering takeaway and delivery services.

But bosses declined, saying it felt remaining open would compromise the safety of its employees.

KFC and McDonald’s have seen long car queues for drive-thru services, and when non essential shops reopened in England, they were greeted by lines of eager shoppers.
