John Swinney: 41 new Covid-19 deaths and 966 confirmed cases

John Swinney has confirmed the latest coronavirus figures for Scotland.

Speaking at the daily press briefing, the Deputy First Minister confirmed that 41 more people had died from the virus in the last 24 hours.

The figure represents 4.2 per cent of all those people tested in the last 24 hours.

258 of the new cases were identified inthe NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board area, 166 in NHS Lanark, and 117 in NHS Lothian.

The number of patients in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus stands at 965 - 17 fewer than yesterday.

65 people are now being treated for the virus in Scotland’s intensive care units.
