Latest coronavirus figures for the Lothians as Scotland reports seven new deaths

The latest figures on coronavirus cases in the Lothians have been released by the Scottish Government as Nicola Sturgeon announced the country has seen seven further deaths fin the last 24 hours.

As of 9am this morning, three more Covid-19 cases have been confirmed bringing the total in the Lothians to 2,777.

The number of hospital admissions remains the same as yesterday, with 145 patients in hospital.

Six coronavirus patients are being treated in intensive care, which is no change from yesterday.

The total number of deaths from Covid-19 in Scotland has now reached 2,422, the First Minister said at her daily news briefing on Tuesday.

Ms Sturgeon said 15,653 people have tested positive for Covid-19, an increase of 14 from yesterday.

1,011 patients are in hospital with a suspected or confirmed case (down 31), with 21 being treated in intensive care (down three).

The news of seven further deaths in Scotland follows two consecutive days of zero deaths being registered - but Ms Sturgeon says this is "not a surprise" given the lag of registering deaths at weekends.
