The Bank of Scotland branch at Newkirkgate Shopping Centre closed on Friday after a member of staff was confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus.

Due to the number of staff members now self isolating after coming into contact with the colleague, the branch which is located at the foot of the Walk is temporarily closed for the time being but will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

The bank has advised that they are following government guidance with regards to the case.

A Bank of Scotland Bank spokesperson said: “We have temporarily closed the Leith branch in Edinburgh after a colleague was diagnosed with Covid-19. Our priority is the wellbeing of our colleagues and customers and we continue to follow Government guidance.

"As a number of our colleagues are now self-isolating we’re unable to open the branch, but we’ll reopen as soon as we can.”
