Many stores in The Centre in Livingston, West Lothian, will close at 6pm on Friday until December 11, due to being non-essential shops, with all non-essential travel banned.
Photographs taken on Wednesday show masked shoppers braving the rain to cram in Christmas shopping, with the car park appearing to be full.
And motorway sign on the M9 in West Lothian reminded travellers to 'Stay Local, Stay Safe, Save Lives', with the lockdown imminent.
As well as West Lothian, there are ten other regions moving into the highest tier.
These are the City of Glasgow, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, and Stirling.
The Scottish Government has indicated that harsher measurements now could lower cases enough to potentially loosen restrictions at Christmas time so people can see family and friends.
