Lockdown in Scotland: This is when pubs and restaurants could reopen, according to Nicola Sturgeon

Outdoor hospitality will be able to reopen in Scotland from late April, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced.

Speaking to MSPs, Ms Sturgeon said groups of up to six people from three households will be able to visit venues until 10pm from April 26.

Premises will be allowed to serve alcohol with no requirement to serve food alongside it.

The First Minister also suggested that April 26 could see the reopening of some indoor hospitality.

This will be limited initially to the service of food and non-alcoholic drinks until 8pm, and for groups of up to 4 people from no more than 2 households.

As was the case last year, venues will need to retain customers’ contact details for three weeks after their visit.

Ms Sturgeon said a study last week from Public Health Scotland showing that Covid-19 vaccines helped suppress the virus had given ministers “greater confidence” to start “mapping a path out of lockdown, with a firmer indicative timeline for lifting restrictions.”
