Covid in Edinburgh: Lothians record highest number of daily cases two days in a row

A total of 1,205 people across Scotland have tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours with 321 new cases in NHS Lothian compared to 294 in Greater Glasgow and Clyde and 125 in Lanarkshire.
On Saturday, Edinburgh and the Lothians also topped the daily coronavirus chart with 331 positive cases reported in a countrywide total of 1,209.

Hide AdThis brings the total number of cases in the Lothians recorded over the weekend to 652.
Scotland has recorded no new coronavirus deaths which means the death toll under this daily measure - of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - remains at 7,692.
With registry offices closed on the weekend however, this figure may be unusually low.
New figures show 254,325 people have now tested positive for the virus in Scotland since the start of the pandemic and the daily test positivity rate is 5.8 per cent, up from 4.5 per cent the previous day.

Hide AdSo far, 3,611,266 people have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccination, up 19,628 on the previous day, and 2,555,308 have received their second dose, up 19,505.
