NHS Lothian has released a video celebrating staff ahead of the Clap for Carers at 8pm this evening.

The video shows pictures of staff from around NHS Lothian, smiling and thanking members of the public and organisations for donations and support.

“Our staff are working really hard right now under challenging circumstances. Through it all they are still managing to smile and spread some cheer,” said NHS Lothian in a message accompanying the video on social media.

“Stay home, stay safe and remember we are here if you need us.”

The video begins with a message to viewers: “Ahead of the 8 o’clock applause for key workers we would like to thank you for your support.”

Many staff in the video are dressed up in full PPE, with domestic workers and those returning to service in the NHS also mentioned.

The video also shares pictures of hundreds of bags of fresh fruit and vegetables delivered to staff at the Western General by Lidl last week.

The video has so far gained almost 7,000 views on Twitter.
