The First Minister has announced 44 new deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the Scottish death toll to 1,620.

Nicola Sturgeon also confirmed that another 171 people have tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of positive tests in Scotland to 12,437.

She added that 64 fewer people are in hospital with positive or suspected cases of the disease, meaning the total has dropped to 1,656.

The number of patients in intensive care with COVID-19 has risen by five since Monday at, with the total sitting at 104.

Of patients who have been treated in hospital, 2,840 people have been discharged after suffering from COVID-19.
