Nicola Sturgeon: Allowing students home for Christmas will be a priority
The First Minister thanked all students for complying with the new rules.
The First Minister has said that allowing students to return to their homes for Christmas will be a priority.
In her daily briefing in Edinburgh, the First Minister has thanked students for complying with the new rules, and added: “don’t assume the rules for home visits will be the same at Christmas.”
The new student guidance has said that if students decide to go back to their parents home, either to visit or to change their household for the long term, they must continue to follow the self isolation rules.
Ms Sturgeon has said in regards the student guidelines: “we are trying to be pragmatic here.”
Monday saw 222 new cases of coronavirus reported, with the weekend seeing over 1,000 new cases.
There are currently 122 patients in hospital who have tested positive, and 16 in intensive care.
No new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
