First Minister Nicola Sturgeon decided to cut her own hair with a trusted video tutorial after her husband offered to give her a lockdown hairdo.

Peter Murrell took to social media to joke that he would be giving the SNP leader a trim today.

But it became apparent that he was “not to be trusted" according to one of his tweets and Nicola Sturgeon took the matter into her own hands.

She can be seen in one of his pictures following a tutorial from trusted hair stylist Julie McGuire.

In a light-hearted tweet online he said: “Desperate for a shot of the scissors, but seemingly I’m not to be trusted.”

The pair have been married since 2010.

Scots reacted seeing the funny side to Murrell’s tweet.

One commenter said he should rightly “step back and let her do the work.”

Others said they were impressed with the First Ministers DIY haircut.

Towards the beginning of the country’s lockdown Nicola Sturgeon offered the nation a little light relief from the coronavirus by posting a picture of herself cutting her husband’s hair.

Underneath the image on Twitter she wrote: “Cutting my husband’s hair (what there is of it!) #AllInThisTogether #PrayforPeter #FirstBarber #StayHomeSaveLives.”

Social media has recently been swamped with images of home haircuts as salons and barbers remain closed during the pandemic lockdown.
