Turkish restaurant delivers free meals to NHS staff in Edinburgh

A Turkish restaurant in Edinburgh has delivered free meals to NHS hospital workers.
Verdo restaurant on Newington Road brought 70 mixed kebab meals to the Royal Infirmary on Sunday April 5.

Hide AdThe restaurant then gave a further 50 kebab meals to staff at the Sick Kids’ hospital on the following Friday.
Boss and chef Resul Gundog said he would be happy to continue delivering the free meals.
“I wanted to make the hospital workers happy,” he said.
“They are working so hard, so we just wanted to help them.
“We would be happy to do this again, with any hospital, it doesn’t matter which one.”
Mr Gundog wants to thank NHS staff for the ‘amazing job’ they continue to do, he said, especially in such a difficult time.
“We are so thankful to them all,” he said.

Hide AdThe restaurant is also offering a 40 percent discount on takeaway meals to all NHS staff.
Staff just need to produce an NHS staff ID to be eligible for the discount.
“A huge big massive thank you to Resul Gundog and Fevzi Taskin for delivering 70 mixed kebab meals to the RIE,” said staff member Laura Brown after the delivery.
“They were absolutely delicious, I’ve never had a kebab like it.
“You guys did amazing tonight, we cannot thank you enough.”
