Work restarts at Edinburgh's Johnnie Walker visitor centre on Princes Street

Work is back underway on Johnnie Walker’s forthcoming flagship site in the heart of Edinburgh's city centre.

Construction had ceased on March 23 due to the coronavirus lockdown, but work is back on to transform the former House of Fraser store on Princes Street into a 'world-class' whisky destination.

The Johnnie Walker Princes Street attraction is the focal point of Diageo’s £150 million investment in Scotch whisky tourism. Such plans include transforming Glenkinchie, Cardhu, Caol Ila and Clynelish distilleries and restoring those in Brora in the Highlands and Port Ellen on Islay.

Featuring two roof top bars, a flagship retail store, a variety of interactive tours, exclusive tasting experiences and much more, Johnnie Walker Princes Street will offer the ultimate whisky experience for guests from home and abroad.

Work is back underway on Johnnie Walker’s forthcoming flagship site in Edinburgh.

A Diageo spokesperson said: “Our first priority continues to be the health and safety of our people, partners and the local community.

“We are pleased that our construction partners are now able to restart work on the Johnnie Walker Princes Street development in line with government guidance and we look forward to resuming progress on this flagship tourism investment for Edinburgh and Scotland.”
