Five more contract Covid-19 in Edinburgh and Lothians but less than five patients remain in intensive care

The latest Scottish Government figures, published on Thursday, show 2,783 people in the region have tested positive for Covid-19 to date, with four less people in hospital (141) compared to the previous day and less than five patients remainining in intensive care (the data does not specify numbers less than five).
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed on Thursday that five more people have died after testing positive for the virus in Scotland and a further 17 infections have been recorded.

Hide AdScottish Government figures show that 2,439 people who have tested positive for coronavirus in Scotland have died.
But data published yesterday by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) revealed that, as of Sunday, 4000 people have died where Covid-19 was listed on the death certificate - in other words, these figures include suspected cases.
The NRS data says 688 people have died this year in the Lothian health board area with confirmed or suspected coronavirus.
Nicola Sturgeon also said today that Scotland’s R number - the rate at which the virus spreads - was now estimated to be between 0.6 and 0.8, lower than the previous estimate of between 0.7 and 0.9.
Ms Sturgeon also said it is likely she will be able to announce further lifting of the lockdown liftings next Thursday.
