The gym was notified of the positive case on Wednesday and the person is recovering well and self-isolating at home for 14 days.

A Pure Gym spokesperson said: “Since reopening in August we have had in total four members and one member of staff notifying us of a positive Covid-19 test and 84,000 member visits.

“There is no evidence that these individuals who tested positive caught or transmitted Covid-19 in the gym, which operates strict Covid-19 protocols including social distancing and enhanced cleaning and hygiene regime.”

It is not for Pure Gym to decide if any staff or members who have been near a positive case should have to self-isolate - this is down to NHS Track and Trace.

Strict social distancing and hygiene measures are in place at the facility and fresh air is regularly pumped into the building to maintain air flow, reducing the viral load.
