Over the course of his long life, His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, spent a great deal of time in the city after which his title is named.

Sharing a lifetime of public by the side of his Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, who has died aged 99, attended thousands of public engagements, as well as being a patron, president or member of over 780 organisations.

From the early days, prior to the accession to the throne of Her Majesty The Queen, to his final public engagements in the 2010s, we recall just some of the many occasions Edinburgh’s duke came to visit.
