Kora will be a delicious Mediterranean feast for the senses, bringing together delicious food and drink from across the region with stalls, sounds and a great sunshine vibe.

Different from any of Edinburgh’s other foodie events, there’ll be a chance to tuck into tasty Med dishes, top up the larder with hard to find treats, relax listening to live music that reflects the whole Med region and browse stalls selling handcrafted, Fair Trade goodies.

The whole event is designed to reflect the best of the Med - from Spain to Turkey, Italy to Morocco – all under one roof.

As well as stalls selling delicious goodies like the finest Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Italy and Greece, warm spices from Turkey and baked sweet treats from Syria, there’ll be hot food available – think of mouth-watering dishes like flaky Greek spanakopita pies, Italian cheeses and charcuterie, exotic Lebantine baba ghanoush.

Coffee lovers will be spoiled for choice, with Greek, Italian and Turkish coffee available, and the bar will serve a Mediterranean-inspired drinks.

Some of Edinburgh’s best-loved Mediterranean restaurants will be serving up signature dishes, and there’ll be live traditional music from bands from Greece, Italy, Spain and Syria.

Kora takes place across the first weekend in May, when Assembly Roxy at Roxburgh Place will be festooned in colourful décor to echo the warm welcome of a Mediterranean festival.

Kostis Vrettos of Kora organisers Adjust Productions said: “The event will bring a bit of Mediterranean summer to the city in May.

“It’s going to be a one-stop shop for fabulous Mediterranean food from countries across the region, with lots of items that are really hard to find locally.

“But there’s more to Kora than great food. There’ll be a chance to browse stalls selling decorative items for the home and to enjoy the atmosphere relaxing and listening to live music.”

It costs just £3 to enter – just pay at the door, all ages are welcome. With live entertainment running throughout each day there’ll be lots of space to sit and just absorb the atmosphere over a glass of Spanish wine, a plate of olives or a hearty hot Mediterranean dish.

Koras will take place at Assembly Roxy on Saturday, May 2 from 11am to 10pm, and Sunday May 3 from 10am to 8pm.
