Viewers at home will be pleased to know BBC’s SIlent Witness has been rescheduled to appear on TV tonight

Fans of BBC’s veteran crime drama Silent Witness will have been outraged to see the show absent from the TV listing yesterday. Thankfully, you won’t have to wait too long to catch Dr Nikki Alexander and Jack Hodgson.

Silent Witness returned to TV on January 2 for its 26th series with two new recruits joining Alexander and Hodgson. The long-running BBC show celebrated its 25th-anniversary last year with one episode broadcast to 8.3 million viewers across its first 30 days.

So when fans settled down to watch the prime-time hit show, you can imagine the disappointment. However, binge-watchers of the BBC will be used to a regular schedule shake-up by now.

Over the last year, fans of soaps and TV dramas have had to get used to shows being switched out. From EastEnders to Strictly Come Dancing, many shows were cancelled from their usual slot to accommodate the Qatar World Cup.

But now a month on from the World Cup final, why was Silent Witness pulled from the TV listing on Tuesday and what time will it be rescheduled?

Unsurprisingly, the FA Cup third round replay between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool took priority over shows on Tuesday. Silent Witness, EastEnders and Waterloo Road were all moved to accommodate the Match of the Day game which aired at 7.45pm live on BBC One.
