Staff at a care home have shared footage of two elderly residents enjoying a singalong session with carol singers outside their window.

The video was taken at The Abbey in North Berwick on Wednesday evening and shows two pensioners joining in with their singing visitors.

Laura Scott, who works at the care home, said the musical group were arranged by local woman Angela Patterson and others from surrounding villages.

Speaking to Edinburgh Evening News Laura said: “Everyone thought they were brilliant and so kind to have thought of us.

"They sang at The Abbey, and also to individuals in Gullane needing some festive cheer too.”

Christmas celebrations have been heavily restricted this year due to a sharp rise in cases of a new Covid-19 strain sweeping across England and Wales.

In a bid to prevent further spread of the virus, The Scottish Government has closed its border and tightened rules over the festive period.
