Newcastle, London, Birmingham and Glasgow were among the seven cities where the service was trialled, but the chain plans to roll it out across the UK later this year after partnering with one delivery platform.
In a trading update this week, Greggs chief executive Roger Whiteside told City A.M.: “What we have been doing for more than a year is trialling in different places and different partners and we have learned enough to decide that we are interested in rolling out across the country.”
The chain is “very close” to announcing its plans to expand its delivery presence across the UK, Whiteside said.

The chain is also to confirm which cities it will definitely deliver too when the service is rolled out.
In addition, Greggs also has plans to extend the operating hours of more of its branches in an effort to capture the 6pm to 9pm market, which it hopes will be an equally popular delivery time.
