The Witcher was originally a book series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski which was then turned into a series released on Netflix on 20 December 2019.

The series features Henry Cavill as monster hunter Geralt of Rivia who finds his destiny tied together with sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) and Cintran princess Ciri (Freya Allan).

The Netflix description explains, “Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster-hunter for hire, journeys towards his destiny in a turbulent world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.”

Since its release, the programme has garnered an 8.5/10 rating on IMDb, a 93 per cent average audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.7/5 star rating on Google.
