Whether it's leftovers or groceries that you want to get the most out of, here are 12 foods that you should never freeze when storing them at home.
1. Eggs
Whole eggs when frozen could potentially expand and crack the shell, allowing bacteria to enter the egg. If the shell does remain intact the freezer will also cause the yolk to become syrupy, and then struggle to blend with the egg whites. Photo: Shutterstock
2. Rice
Freezing cooked rice is never a good idea. Not only will the food lose its flavour, but it will also lose its texture and become mushy. Photo: Shutterstock
3. Salad Leaves
If you have purchased a lot of salad leaves in an attempt to avoid a second shop, putting them in a freezer is unfortunately not going to help. Freezing greens like lettuce, spinach and micro greens leaves them soggy and inedible. Photo: Shutterstock
4. Soft Cheeses
Soft cheeses such as brie, goat cheese and ricotta should avoid being frozen. Once they are taken out they will lose their creamy texture and turn grainy. Photo: Shutterstock
