The diner by day, bar by night serves up vanilla pancakes throughout the day, with optional toppings including fruit and Nutella or savoury choices such as bacon.

Loudon’s Cafe

( 94b Fountainbridge, EH3 9QA)

Loudons Cafe take their pancakes very seriously.

The Fountainbridge eatery serves up a variety of savoury and sweet stacks of pancakes to delighted customers.

The superfood pancakes composed of gluten and dairy free pancakes garlic, ginger and chilli layered with tomato, dill and haricot bean hummus topped with black bean salsa, mixed herbs and herb oil, are particularly enjoyable.

Coro the Chocolate Cafe

Coro specialise in chocolate laden desserts, including several pancake dishes. The melted chocolate and strawberry pancakes are the ideal treat for Pancake Day.

Tupiniquim

From their green police box, the vendors of Tupiniquim dish up brazilian crepes, stuffed with a variety of savoury and sweet fillings.

The butternut squash, sweet potato, spinach, tomato and pistachio crepe is a great lunch option, while the cranachan pancake makes for an excellent dessert.

All of the crepes served at Tupiniquim are gluten-free.

The cafe is the brainchild of food blogger Roberta Norman, who believes that veganism is the healthiest way of life for people and planet.

Pancake lovers can look forward to creations with toppings such as fruit compote and maple syrup – or if you’re looking for something savoury then try the spinach, vegan bacon, mushrooms, peppers, rocket and vegan mayonnaise pancakes.

Bluebird Cafe

Bluebird Cafe brings a slice of America to the Capital, and its pancake offering is no different.

Diners can tuck into Tennessee buttermilk pancakes topped with maple and bacon, blueberry and fruit or bacon and poached eggs.

The venue also hosts live music – country, in keeping with the theme – and the food is all good Southern fare, the bourbon brownie comes highly recommended.
