Edinburgh’s Civerinos Food Club – which includes Civerinos on Hunter Square, Civerinos Slice on Forrest Road and The High Dive on St. Leonard’s Street – is, from today, offering a complimentary pizza slice to any children eligible for free school meals.

The initiative is running from today, 17 March, Monday-Friday from 12-2pm until further notice.

Each of the three restaurants are known for their New York style wood fired pizzas and classic family recipes passed down through generations, and the team say that they want to ensure that all school children are still receiving a hot meal throughout the working day.

What’s on offer?

Civerinos are offering one of their larger than life margherita pizza slices to all children that are usually entitled to a free school meal. Anyone eligible is asked to email [email protected] to receive a voucher to redeem in any of their three restaurants. This comes as parents may worry about reduced income and lack of a hot meal if and when schools close due coronavirus.

Owner of Civerinos Food Club, Michele Civiera said: “I am very aware of how important the school meal is for all children and in particular the free school meal to a number of households in the city.

“After speaking with parents locally who were upset over the prospect and uncertainty of not having that hot meal as well as reduced income over the coming months, I personally wanted to help in any way that we can as a local business.”
