9. Maki & Ramen West Richmond Street
This snug Japanese restaurant, located just a stone's throw away from Edinburgh University on West Richmond Street, is just one of six branches across Scotland. On the menu is a range of sushi rolls, including a green dragon roll with prawn and avocado and a Tokyo roll with deep fried chicken katsu. The chain recently launched a dog menu - so well-behaved pooches can eat with their owners. One diner reviewed the restaurant on Tripadvisor, writing: "I'd recommend this place to anyone, but especially vegetarians or vegans looking for a good range of Japanese options." 10. Maki & Ramen Fountainbridge
The sushi chain's Fountainbridge location is also one of Edinburgh locals' favourite spots. The restaurant is great for special occasions, as diners can watch their food being made with the live sushi section. One Tripadvisor reviewer described the restaurant as the "better version of Wagamama’s", and said the food was "super fresh and tasty". Photo: Google Maps
