Across 14 categories, the awards will recognise the incredible achievements of the Capital’s thriving food and drink scene in unprecedented times.

From Michelin-starred fine dining restaurants to cosy cafes and vibrant street food hotspots, there are plenty of rich culinary delights to celebrate across the city and Lothians.

The Edinburgh Evening News believes it is now more important than ever to recognise excellence across this valuable sector.

The event, sponsored by Zettle, a point-of-sale solution, will take place at Brewhemia in Market Street on Monday, 6 June.

The categories are Edinburgh Chef of the Year, Best Fine Dining Experience, Best Newcomer, Best Cafe/Deli, Best World Food Restaurant, Best Gastro Pub & Brewery, Best Family Friendly, Best Speciality, Best Takeaway Offering, Best Use of Outdoor Space, Best Customer Service, Best Seafood, Sustainability Award and Edinburgh Restaurant of the Year.

Edinburgh and the Lothians are home to great pubs and breweries that invite customers to visit for a drinking and dining experience with a difference.

For the Best Gastro Pub & Brewery category, judges will be looking for an establishment serving great food alongside a variety of tasty and intriguing beers.

The most recent recipient of this accolade was The Bridge Inn, Newbridge, which delighted customers for its excellent beer selection and hearty meals.

To celebrate venues that offer high standards across its range of food and drink offerings for both adults and children, the Best Family Friendly award will be given to an eatery that warmly welcomes young and old.

No longer is it the case that children are given colouring-in and a minimal menu, as the industry increasingly aims to introduce youngsters to different types of dining.

In 2019, the title went to Fountainbridge-based Akva, which was renowned for its Scandinavian-inspired dishes and mouth-watering cocktails.

In the previous year, the award went to The Scran and Scallie, a modern gastro pub in Stockbridge run by famed chef Tom Kitchin.

As the eating out scene continues to flourish, the Capital is firmly on the map for characterful cuisine.

New for this year is the Best Speciality title which will commemorate a venue that aims to be unique, whether it is serving showstopping vegan dishes, or turning some of Scotland’s finest produce into tasteful works of art.

You have until Friday, 22 April to submit your nominations for this year’s event.
