Edinburgh's Murrayfield Bar reinvented with fresh look and Scottish-inspired menu

Landmark Edinburgh pub re-opens with a new look and menu

Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Bar has been reinvented with refreshed interiors, a Scottish-inspired menu and a drinks selection designed for everything from an afternoon catch-up to an evening out.

Operated by Discovery Group, the Edinburgh venue brings together “the character of a neighbourhood pub with a fresh approach to food, drinks and hospitality”.

Rich upholstery, exposed stonework, warm brass lighting and beautifully finished woodwork create an inviting setting, with thoughtful details throughout. The result is a space where guests can feel equally comfortable stopping for a pint, enjoying lunch or settling in for dinner with friends.

Steven Winton, operations director of Discovery Group, said: “We’re delighted to open The Murrayfield Bar and Dining and sharing what we’ve been working on. We’ve put a lot of care into every part of the venue, from the interiors to the menu, but the most important thing is how people feel when they walk through the door.

“We want to create somewhere welcoming, where local people feel at home and visitors get a real taste of Scottish hospitality.”

The food menu brings together familiar favourites and dishes with a contemporary Scottish influence. Highlights include Scottish tattie scones with chorizo and tomato ragù, seared salmon, crispy pork belly with a sticky Irn-Bru glaze, and an Edgefield Craft Butcher beef pie.

Steven added: “Our approach is straightforward: great food, great drinks, and friendly, attentive service. We want people to enjoy the surroundings, find dishes they love and leave looking forward to their next visit.

“There’s plenty of Scottish character in the offer, and we’ve enjoyed bringing that together in a way that feels right for Murrayfield.”

With the pub sitting in the shadows of Scotland’s largest sporting venue, rugby will remain an important part of the venue’s identity, with The Murrayfield Bar and Dining looking forward to welcoming supporters and sharing in the atmosphere of international match days.

Steven said: “Being part of Murrayfield means being part of that fantastic rugby atmosphere, and we’re excited to welcome fans through the doors. We also want to be a place people choose throughout the week — for a relaxed lunch, a night out or a catch-up with friends.”
