Located on Albert Place, Gulp Ramen is set to satisfy locals in Leith with its range of ramen dishes - offering a wealth of warming meals perfect for Edinburgh’s cold winter months.

On the menu you’ll find meaty offerings like their Tonkotsu ramen, which sees a pork and roast chicken broth, chasu pork collar and shoulder blended with slow cooked egg, miso corn, edamame and more.

Meanwhile, vegetarians can enjoy a veggie alternative featuring silken tofu tempura and nori puffed potato alongside raw and pickled veg – all simmering in a mushroom and vegetable broth. Their noodles and broths are homemade, with the broths taking some 60 hours to produce, using cuts and bones of pork, chicken and duck.

As for their Asian-influenced snacks, daily varieties have previously seen tenderstem broccoli tempura served with spiced peanuts, nori mayonnaise and pea shoots, alongside crispy duck wings presented with caramelised milk, pear and pickled kohlrabi.

Owners Elizabeth Elliott and Sharif Gergis combined their skills in management and cooking to create Gulp after moving back to Edinburgh after living and working in Morzine, France.

Elizabeth said: “We are so grateful for the welcome we have received in Leith. We love living here and are so excited at the prospects of a future full of fun working on the Walk.”

She added: “Opening during a pandemic is of course a risky move, but it would have been riskier not to do anything.”

In keeping with current restrictions, Gulp will be allowing 4 customers per booking into its cool, colourful wee restaurant to ensure safety for staff and customers alike.

Gulp Ramen is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12-6pm, at 9 Albert Place, Edinburgh EH7 5HN. You can book online and find out more by visiting Gulp Ramen’s website.
