Old Town Pub Co celebrate luck of the Irish with cash prize

The best selfie over the St Patrick's Day celebrations will land a top cash prize

Pub goers in Edinburgh have the chance to win £1000 thanks to St Patrick’s Day celebrations being staged by the Old Town Pub Co.

The prize pot for the best selfie is the company’s biggest ever cash giveaway and is the highlight of extended Irish-themed festivities which will take place this month.

The competition runs from Friday March 13 at 11am right through until Wednesday March 18 at 3am at all 12 of the Old Town Pub Co venues including favourites such as Whistlebinkies, Stramash, The Royal Mile Tavern, George IV bar and the Mash House.

The best photograph from the festivities will land the £500 first prize, while there will also be runners-up prizes of £300 and £200.

To be in with a chance of winning one of the prizes on offer, customers must upload a selfie to Facebook or Instagram and tag the Old Town Pub Co, the venue they are in and Guinness. They can enter as many times as they like but the images must be different.

Jim Stewart, manager of Whistlebinkies said: “St Patrick’s Day is always an important date on the calendar and we’re hoping to help people celebrate in style.

“This is our biggest ever cash giveaway so it’s going to be a day to remember for some lucky people! In fact, it’s going to be just grand!

“We always have lots of folk having a good time at this time of year so get snapping folks and let’s see those super selfies! Who’s going to have the luck of the Irish?”

There will also be over 50 musical acts taking to the stages across the venues throughout the six day period, with plenty of fun freebies being handed out as well.
