Pizza Geeks celebrate 'Star Wars Day' by delivering 1000 free pizzas to key workers and vulnerable groups

Amongst self-proclaimed geeks celebrating May 4th as Star Wars Day, an Edinburgh pizza restaurant is marking the occasion with a drop of 1000 free pizzas for key workers and those in need.

Pizza Geeks shop on Dalry Road is today cooking up 1000 pizzas and setting up their street food trailer to they can make the amount while still applying social distancing measures.

600 of the pizzas will be delivered to vulnerable people and charity groups while the remaining 400 will be delivered to NHS workers as part of their ‘pizza for the people’ drive.

Since lockdown began Pizza Geeks have managed to give out over 2000 pizzas.

Every pizza box will contain a freshly cooked margarita pizza with the vulnerable persons box also containing a one free pizza card that is redeemable at a later date.

A pizza donation, made online at the Pizza Geeks website costs just £4 and each donation equates to one pizza paid forward to someone vulnerable within the community in need of a hot meal.

During the coronavirus crisis, the donations are also extended to NHS workers. Those wishing to donate can do so here.
