Morningside along with the team behind 21212, Fhior, Timberyard, The Broughton, Civerinos and Fingal are joining together as part of ‘Taste Edinburgh’.

The impact of coronavirus has had a devastating effect on the hospitality industry and those working in it, with thousands of independent restaurants and cafes suffering due to changing restrictions meaning many are operating at a loss.

The campaign, which is set to launch on Wednesday December 9, will encourage locals to support local this festive season and has been devised and coordinated by Edinburgh’s Taste Communications, Scotland’s first dedicated food, drink and hospitality media agency.

Katie O’Brien, co-founder of 21212, said: “We all know that it has been a tough 2020, not just for us in hospitality but for so many people.

“Now, quite simply is the time to look forward. We have an end in sight and we just have to get to the finishing post.

“If you can, then please help. Buy a voucher for Christmas. That voucher helps us now, helps us get to that finish post and then we start again. We start doing what we do, which is bringing happiness to so many. It will be time to celebrate soon and buying a voucher now, shows above all else, hope! Hope that once again, we will return to what we have missed. And we have missed you!”

People can follow the Taste Edinburgh campaign on social media, including Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #TasteEdinburgh.
