Earlshall Castle near Leuchars in Fife was put up for sale by Dutch shipping magnate Paul Veenhuijzen in 2019 and is still on the market. Boasting 10 bedrooms, eight reception rooms, three separate cottages and 34 acres of land – it’s quite the sprawling abode. Rumours of haunting include that of William Bruce’s grandson Andrew ‘Bloody’ Bruce, who killed Covenanter Richard Cameron before hacking off his hands and feet. The castle is still on the market, price on application, with Savills.
