Lothian recommends: Evening News readers' favourite pizza restaurants

The taste of Italy can be found in Edinburgh in ambudance. That’s why we asked the Evening News readers to share where they think is the best place to grab a slice.

Civerinos

Civerinos provides large sourdough pizzas within a trendy interior which proves popular with the younger generation.

As well as a restaurant on Hunter Square, the owners run a street food premises called Civerinos Slice. Both based in the Old Town, they provide pizza for all occasions with their concise menu packed full of flavour.

Ivan Lobo said: “Civerinos has the most diversity and the dough is just amazing! Everything is freshly prepared, it has the tastiest pizzas.”

Scott Brydson added: “Civerinos restaurants for sure the best pizzas in town.”

La Favorita

A hugely popular choice was La Favorita on Leith Walk for pizzas with a special crispiness and unmistakable smokey flavour. The dough is prepared freshly in-house each day and cooked in its log-fired Italian oven.

Keith Leahey said: “If you want the best, forget the rest. La Favorita, the best pizza in Edinburgh.”

Origano

Wishing to indulge in a crispy pizza with fresh ingredients in a cosy candlelit atmosphere? Origano is your place. A combination of its signature base and the right balance of tomato, seasoning and quality toppings make an Origano pizza.

In Naples, people are just as passionate about their pizza as they are about football.

Thanks to Pizzeria 1926, a real taste of southern Italy is available on Dalry Road in Edinburgh – complete with its authentic pizzas.
