Here are 22 shops, attractions and other organisations that closed their doors in 2023.
21. Dahlia
The quirky store in Deanhaugh Street that sold plants and bespoke gifts announced its plans to close in September after three years of trading. Owner, Phoebe Hutcheson, said: “It’s no secret that the past three years in retail have been an absolute whirlwind and continue to be a really challenging time for all of us small bricks and mortar shops. You guys have made this tricky period so hopeful and full of joy for us. None of it would have been possible without you all, and the wonderful women who’ve worked with us over the years, – so from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU.” Photo: Third Party
22. TK Maxx
At the beginning of the year, TK Maxx announced it would close its Meadowbank store in February after failing to reach agreement on renewing its lease. A spokesperson for TK Maxx said: “Our landlord has sadly ended the lease at TK Maxx Meadowbank, so we’re sorry to announce that the store will likely close on February 15, 2023. We are very grateful to our hard-working store team and loyal customers who have supported TK Maxx Meadowbank over the years and look forward to seeing them at our nearby stores.” Photo: Google Maps
