Edinburgh skincare company faces up to the ethical beauty issue
The first skincare company in the world to receive a palm oil free certification trademark, her beauty brand Amaranthine has now been recognised for its purity with a top European award.

Hide AdSarah decided to make the Capital her home more than 20 years ago after visiting a friend and falling in love with the city.
She now works from a boutique studio at Edinburgh Palette, a former office block at St Margaret’s House on London Road that’s become home to a range of small businesses and creatives.
As a qualified clinical aromatherapist, Sarah’s approach to blending essential oils is holistic, taking account of the benefits they provide to both the skin and mood.

Hide AdAll her products are cruelty-free and ethically produced, using organic and fairtrade ingredients.
“The palm oil issue is something I feel very strongly about and being palm oil-free has always been high on my list of company ethics,” she says.
Sarah is delighted that her Amaranthine facial oil - formulated to helps people with problems like adult acne and rosacea - won gold in the problem skin category at the recent Europe-wide Free From Skincare Awards.

Hide AdFounded nine years ago, the awards encourage and reward manufacturers of products that are free from chemicals and additives linked to skin sensitivities and allergies, as well as being associated with ethical and environmental concerns.
In the next few weeks, Sarah hopes to return to her regular pitch at Leith Market on the first Saturday of the month.
