Thousands of holidays at risk as travel firm goes bust

A UK travel agency has gone bust, leaving thousands of holidaymakers in limbo.

According to reports up to 16,000 holidays are at risk after Diamond Shortbreak Holidays ‘ceased trading’.

The news regarding Diamond Shortbreak Holidays Limited, who also traded as Diamond Holidays, Diamond Rail Holidays, and The River Cruise Line was announced on the ABTA website in a statement which read: “We regret that Diamond Shortbreak Holidays Limited has ceased trading on 15 March 2017.”

ABTA - which represents the nation’s travel firms and tour operators added: “If you have booked a holiday with [the above], we regret that all future bookings have been cancelled and will not be going ahead.

“We will need to give you some specific advice depending on the type of booking that you have made. It is very important that you closely follow this advice.

“Whilst this news may be extremely upsetting for you, please be assured if your holiday is booked with Diamond Holidays, Diamond Rail Holidays, and The River Cruise Line, we are here to help you to navigate through the process of recovering your money, and/or rebooking your travel arrangements.”

Those who have booked with the firm have been advised to get in touch with ABTA as soon as possible.
