More and more residents can now access a faster, more reliable full fibre broadband service delivered via fibre optic cables, as Zen Internet continues to follow the infrastructure rollout  across Edinburgh.

Four times Which? winner

Over four consecutive years, Zen has been named the UK’s only Which? recommended provider for broadband, regularly leading the consumer champion’s table of broadband providers. An impressive 70 per cent was scored by Zen in this year’s survey, as well as receiving four stars in the ‘connection speed’ category. Zen’s average upload speeds reached 106.2Mbps, according to the ISP Review analysis – which is 45 per cent higher than the second best provider.

To top that off, Zen also won the Which? customer service brand of the year title in the annual awards.

Customers love the service and support offered by Zen Internet - our only Which? Recommended Provider for broadband. It was the only broadband provider to earn five stars for its communication in our latest league table, and it’s consistently received impressive scores for both technical support and its customer service through the years.

Which? Chief Executive Annabel Hoult

She added: “Congratulations to Zen Internet on its win. The Which? Awards judging standards are incredibly high, so to be named as a winner is a huge achievement - something only achieved by the best of the best.”

Lightning-fast broadband for gaming and movie downloads

Traditional copper wires, which were fine for carrying phone calls but not so great for data transfer, are being replaced with more modern, reliable fibre optic cables for a better connection.

Thousands of homes across Edinburgh now have available speeds with Zen of 100 Mbps to 900 Mbps. Zen’s Full Fibre 900 product, for example, can deliver an HD movie download in 36 seconds as well as the upload of a 1GB file in nine seconds. Gamers will be excited to hear that the Full Fibre 100 product can download a 50GB game in 67 minutes or, upgrade to Full Fibre 900 and that download time reduces to eight minutes!

Zen Internet Strategy Director David Barber said: “There are a lot of factors at play that will impact internet speeds, most crucially how a provider manages its network capacity. Our award- winning service is underpinned by our commitment to investing in our network for better performance, improved resilience, and a network that operates without limits or restrictions. With a fibre first approach we aim to deliver the best customer experience via the best technology available.

We are increasingly reliant on the internet in our daily lives. The volume of data and information being shared just keeps on rising– on Zen’s network it is growing at a CAGR of 35 per cent. That is why we are really excited to be bringing this lightning-fast broadband service to homes in Edinburgh giving the area access to next generation connectivity.

Customer service

To show its commitment to customers, Zen has signed up to telecoms regulator Ofcom’s voluntary Code of Practice on Speeds. That gives its customers more insight into speeds, including at peak times, at the point of sale. So their customers can be clear about what they are signing up for.

Zen is also part of Ofcom’s end of contract notifications, which keep customers informed about when contracts are coming to an end and savings they can make from new contracts. Zen was also at the front of the queue for the regulator’s auto compensation scheme, so you can be assured of automatically receiving your money back if something goes wrong with your broadband or landline service.
