The youth will now be reported to the Children’s Reporter, following the incident on Sunday July 17, at Whitburn Cemetery.

Chief Inspector, Stevie Dolan, Local Area Commander for West Lothian, said: “We recognise the impact this incident had on the community and to those with loved one at rest within the cemetery and worked closely with our colleagues at West Lothian Council during our investigation.

“Offences of this nature will not be tolerated and whenever they occur we will work with all of our relevant partners to bring those responsible to account for their actions.”
