5 held in web porn probe

TWELVE children have been “safeguarded” and five people arrested by Lothian and Borders Police as part of a nationwide operation to target suspected internet paedophiles.

Three men, two aged 35 and one aged 29, were charged in connection with indecent images.

A 43-year-old from north Edinburgh was charged with communicating indecently with a child aged between 13 and 15, and a 22-year-old from Livingston was detained and questioned before being released.

Operation Tharsley saw 78 people arrested across the UK.
