A new look and a new team at the Advertiser

It's all change at the Midlothian Advertiser.

New look and new team for the Midlothian Advertiser

The paper has now joined the team which manages a number of weekly newspapers all published by Johnston Press.

Its stablemates now include the Fife Free Press – Scottish weekly Newspaper of the Year for 2015 and 2016 – the Fife Herald, St Andrews Citizen, East Fife Mail, Glenrothes Gazette, The Buteman and Stornoway Gazette.

It means there will be a central team of reporters to support Kevin Quinn who will remain the news reporter and who knows the patch inside out.

Janet Bee is joining our communities team which generates content for all our Scottish titles.

The other main chage is the new look.

We’ve tweaked the typography and also rejigged the places the pages all sit - so now you have all the local news at the front of the paper, then our columns and district news next to our magazine, and finally, of course, sport at the back.

The new structure means we can now look in depth at the main news issues affecting the area – pages six and seven are where you’ll be able to read more.

There’s a handy contents panel on two, which also has a new look.

Our magazine section will still bring you the local entertainments news, plus interviews with the biggest bands touring Scotland – we recently carried an interview with The Who and, just a few months ago, we even had Bruce Springsteen on the phone to chat about his recent Hampden gig.

But most importantly, the stories and pictures you submit will get priority every week.

In that respect, the Advertiser hasn’t changed.

It remains the paper for your area and we will continue to speak up, and speak out, on the issues that are central to your daily lives.

This week we look at the contentious issue of parking, reflect on Dolly the Sheep’s remarkable legacy 20 years on, and report on recognition for the restored Penicuik House.
