A1 in East Lothian reopens as man taken to hospital following police incident

Drivers thanked for patience as A1 reopens in both directions

A section of the A1 in East Lothian has reopened after an earlier police incident led to a man being taken to the hospital.

The Tyne Bridge near the village of East Linton was initially shut in both directions on Monday afternoon following reports of concern for a person. Emergency services attended the scene, and drivers were previously urged to avoid the area while closures were in place.

Police have now confirmed that the incident has been resolved and the route is clear.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The A1 has re-opened at the junction of the A199 Haddington following a report of concern for a person that was received around 12pm on Monday, 20 April.

“A man was taken to hospital for treatment. Motorists are thanked for their patience.”

Earlier in the day, the closure affected the northbound carriageway at the Thistly Cross roundabout and the southbound carriageway at the A199 Haddington junction, with Traffic Scotland advising motorists to use alternative routes and allow for extra travel time.
