Action on dementia

DEMENTIA “champions” are to be appointed across the Lothians to deal with the growing challenge of the illness.

The project will see health workers given additional training, rather than the creation of fresh roles.

Henry Simmons, chief executive of Alzheimer Scotland, said: “We have long campaigned to highlight the difficulties faced by people with dementia in our acute general hospitals.”
