They are rarer than reds and grander than greys – a rare Albino squirrel has been spotted in the Capital.

Reader Judy Clark sent in these fantastic snaps of the pure-white animal foraging for berries in a tree by the canal near Craiglockhart. It’s snowy fur might be a sign of the impending winter, and although other albino squirrels have been spotted in the Capital – with one often spotted roaming around Edinburgh Zoo – they are extremely rare, with experts believing only one in 10,000 squirrels is born albino. The albino is a grey squirrel that has slight mutation, and it is thought there are only 50 of them in the UK.
