“In addition to creating new jobs, our new stores increase ALDI’s footprint across the country and enable even more customers to switch to ALDI for their weekly shop.”

In addition to Whitburn, six other new stores are opening across Scotland this year (Fort William, Hawick, Aviemore, Shettleston Road Glasgow, Peterhead and Johnstone), and the retailer is creating additional floor space at three existing stores (Dumfries Annan Road, Livingston and Bellshill).

In December, ALDI officially opened its new multi-million pound Scottish Buying Office at its headquarters in Bathgate and announced a Scottish Small Supplier Development Programme to give up-and-coming food and drink companies the chance to secure their big break. This year, work will also begin on a further £22million investment in new chill and freezer facilities at ALDI’s Scottish headquarters in Bathgate.
