Anger over nursing cuts

NHS Lothian has been attacked for cutting its nursing budget by £14 million.

The Evening News revealed the change earlier this week, which is part of the health board’s £50m efficiency savings this year.

But Labour’s health spokeswoman Jackie Baillie said: “The health service is haemorrhaging nurses. We have already lost 700 this year and this news is roughly the equivalent of around another 500 posts heading for the dole queue.”
