Bank crisis blame row

EDINBURGH Central SNP MSP Marco Biagi has accused Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson of blaming Edinburgh for the global economic crisis.

During a debate in the Scottish Parliament, Ms Davidson referred to “the banking crisis that was made in Edinburgh and not in the London that the First Minister loves to blame”.

Mr Biagi wrote to the Tory leader, asking her to clarify her “stark claim”.

He said: “As the MSP whose constituency includes much of Edinburgh’s extremely successful financial district I am concerned at this blatant direct attack on the reputation of business in our nation’s capital. I would like to invite you to clarify these remarks, as I am sure it was not your intention to cast aspersions on the city I represent and indeed the nation of which it is the capital.”
