Be ready for
GPs’ festive
timetables

A NATIONAL health campaign has been launched to remind people to be prepared for the closure of doctors’ surgeries and chemists over the Christmas holidays.

Many GP surgeries and pharmacies will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, before shutting on New Year’s Day and January 2.

The campaign is also urging those who regularly take medicines to ensure their cabinets are stocked.

Professor George Crooks, medical director of NHS 24, said: “Many GP surgeries and pharmacies will be closed over Christmas and again at New Year, so it is essential that everyone knows exactly when their local services are available and how to access them.

“If you are unlucky enough to get a cough, cold or flu, buying over-the-counter medicine, staying at home and keeping warm will make you feel much better.”
