Boon for budding writers

The Scottish Book Trust has announced that it is searching for the next big Scottish writing talent, with the launch of the Young Writers Awards 2011.

Teenagers aged 14–17 who would like to make a career of writing are being offered a golden opportunity to win a money-can’t-buy prize that will ensure they get the best possible start.

Three lucky winners will receive a prize which includes a six-month mentoring period with a published writer, a visit to a top London publisher and the chance to meet industry professionals.

Caitrin Armstrong, writer development manager at the Scottish Book Trust, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for budding writers to have their talent nurtured in a unique atmosphere of creativity and encouragement. These awards offer three young writers the chance to reach their full potential.”
